La Taverna was one of the first hotels built in Bali. Its owners selected one of the best locations on the island and in the years that followed Sanur grew up as the first resort area of Bali.

In those early days La Taverna became recognized as a luxury hotel where many famous people wined and dined. The restaurant gained a high reputation for its fine cuisine with an emphasis on Italian food. These days La Taverna is situated right on the main street in the heart of Sanur but with a large driveway and mature gardens the hotel has retained its original concept of privacy and tranquility.
Little has changed over the years including the restaurant and its reputation for fine food and excellent service. Culinary skills have been handed down.
In recent years the beach in Sanur was badly eroded but during 2003 a major project has been completed to return the beach to its former beauty.

Once again Sanur beach is one of the very best beaches in Bali.

With a fringe of reef to protect it, the beach leads into a safe lagoon ideally suited for swimming and snorkeling without strong currents or large waves so it is safe for children. Further out there is good surfing and snorkeling on the reef edge

The hotel rooms are set in extensive gardens that were designed by Made Wijaya a landscape architect who has become famous worldwide for the design of Balinese gardens.

A lounge in the garden provides a quiet place for reading or relaxing.
The rooms do not have televisions and many of our guests prefer it this way. A central lounge has satellite television with access to major world wide networks including BBC world, CNN, ABC (Australia), National Geographic, Discovery, Sports and movies so you won’t have to miss that important soccer game.

The hotel has a number of drivers and vehicles on hand for airport transfers, short trips or daily excursions. They can help you to work out a tour of Bali, take you to see many of the fascinating facets of this beautiful island and its rich culture, and look after you when interacting with the local people.

La Taverna restaurant provides fine dining in the main restaurant building overlooking the pool, in the gazebo overlooking the beach or, if you wish, under the stars on the beach itself.
The menu has many Italian favourites along with international and Balinese meals. A comprehensive breakfast menu, a range of light meals during the day and of course fine dining meals in the evening. La Taverna is famous for its pizzas and its wood fired pizza oven was the first in Bali.

Our chefs make their own pasta, foccacia bread is made fresh every day and the cappuccinos and lattes are made using the finest Italian coffee

La Taverna Bali Hotel has 45 rooms are available in a range of configurations including Standard, Superior and Deluxe. Family units are available each with two connecting rooms sharing a bathroom. There are also two storey suites two of which have there own private gardens. The Presidents Suite has its own garden leading onto the beach.

The style is Balinese with a strong Italian flavour. All the rooms have antique Balinese doorways and the furniture is also antique. The Garden Deluxe rooms have high thatched ceilings.

All rooms are fully serviced and have airconditioning, telephone, fridge with minibar, double or twin beds and luxurious bathrooms with terrazzo baths.

Each room has its own outdoor seating area where you can relax in the afternoon sunshine or even take your dinner from our comprehensive room service.
